In Search of the Perfect Eye Cream

I have been looking for a good eye cream for years. I don't suffer from puffy eye but I do have dark circles and the skin around my eyes gets dry. I also have a few fine lines under my eyes from squinting but no crows feet and I would like some age prevention from my moisturizer. I also want something I can wear under makeup during the day without it causing my make up to slide around or settle into lines. Oh, and I have really sensitive skin so I need something that is nonirritating. Is that too much to ask for? Apparently so.

I have tried all the Heaven eye creams/gels/masks (not just the one in the photo) but I found they all irritated the eye area and made it feel dry. I've also tried all the Burt's Bees eye creams with the same result. The Jurlique Herbal Recovery cream just really didn't seem to do anything good or bad. I like Eminence Organics Bearberry eye cream, its relatively moisturizing, very soothing, and helps a little with dark circles, I haven't noticed much effect on lines so far but its only been about 3 weeks. I'm still trying Kiehls Midnight Recovery cream on my right eye at night to compare to the eminence one and right now it seems pretty comparable, maybe a little better for dark circles but I have only been using it for 3 days. The next one that I plan to purchase is Origins Dr. Andrew Weil Mega-Bright eye cream because I got a sample of it from Sephora and it seemed to have a miraculous effect on my dark circles, not irritate my eyes, moisturize, and not interfere with my makeup.

Let you know if you have any suggestions or products that you would recommend.

Guerlain Crazy Pearls

I think this was meant to be a face powder or complexion warming powder but I discovered that when you take out the lavender pearls as well as some of the beige, cream, and gold ones, you are left with a beautiful natural colored blush as you can see I have done in this photo. This has become my go to everyday blush and I love that it really does stay on all day. I even use it to give myself a light flush on days when I'm not wearing foundation. If you watch my YouTube channel, its the blush that I am wearing in most of the videos and I featured it in my summer makeup video.

Unfortunately, this was a limited edition item about a year ago so I don't think its still available but if you happen to have it, you might want to give this a try. Its also an idea to try if you have other meteorite powders that you don't like as powders but could be altered in this way for other purposes.

What's In My Shower?

Obviously these aren't the only products that I use in the shower but they are the ones I keep in there because I use them frequently.
You can see that I don't have any matching shampoo/conditioner sets, this is because I am trying to use up all my leftovers before buying new products. Why is it that shampoos and conditioners never run out at the same time?! If you want to know more about what haircare products I like, you can watch my YouTube post on Kerastase products.

I have talked about all these products on my YouTube channel. As y'all can see, I don't like a lot of clutter sitting around so I don't keep much in my shower. If I need any of my other stuff, I just take it in there with me.

YogaToes

I recently discovered these strange things called YogaToes. I saw an advertisement for them in Yoga Journal and was intrigued so I looked them up on amazon.com. They cost about $40 but they had good reviews so I decided to give them a shot. My husband had been recently commenting on how close together my toes are when he was giving me a foot massage. We discovered that him separating my toes out a bit (by putting his fingers between them was extremely painful for me even though your toes really should not be all squashed together. I blame my high heeled and pointy toe shoes. Enter YogaToes. The brand recommends wearing them for just 10-15 minutes per day initially and then slowly increasing the length of time. The idea is to separate your toes out and realign your feet. Initially I hardly had the flexibility to get my foot into these and they were uncomfortable so that I was only wearing them about 5 minutes per day. I wore them while watching TV though and was gradually able to increase the length of time I wore them to where I can now have them on for an hour, I can put them on easily, and they feel great on my feet. Its now a pleasant relaxing sensation to put them on after a long day spent on my feet. They are made of thick and sturdy rubber and come in different colors.

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Skincare

As promised, I am going to talk about the other Jurlique collection that I love. This one is designed to balance skin, help combat environmental stresses, and increase radiance. I find that using the herbal recovery serum and night cream has really reduced the breakouts and inflammation that I experience. Jurlique products have improved my skin to where I don't need foundation on a daily basis and I actually get compliments on my skin from the people at beauty counters. I also love the herbal recovery mask to use 1-2 times per week, its a nice rejuvenating treatment for my skin. The foaming cleanser is a little too drying for my skin to use on a regular basis although I do still use it if my skin is feeling more oily for any reason. My husband has oily and dry combination skin and he loves the herbal recovery balancing cleanser so I think it is better for combination or oily skin. This is another cleanser that works well with the clarisonic face brush. For more information on Jurlique products see my YouTube video.

Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Collection

Talk about a savior for dry skin! Those of you who have seen my youtube videos know that I have dry skin. In the summer my skin comes closer to being normal but in the winter it is incredibly dry and when my skin is dry it gets irritated easily by products and is more prone to breakouts. I thought I had tried every possible product under the sun, both natural and full of chemical, when I discovered Jurlique. I actually use a combination of products from this collection and their Herbal Recovery collection but I will talk about those in another post. The Moisture Plus collection has a wonderful modern rose scent, its not like your grandmother's rose scent but it is very relaxing and romantic and makes it feel like a real treat to wash your face morning and night. I use the cleanser with my clarisonic mia 2 for better exfoliation and makeup removal. However, unlike most cream cleansers, I find that it does take off all my makeup even without the clarisonic. Although the cleanser is rich and creamy, it does foam somewhat when mixed with water. The rose mask is an overnight mask that you sleep in and it incredibly transformative, it causes me to wake up with smooth and radiant, youthful looking skin since the moisture plumps up the skin and fills in fine lines. The rosewater mist is a bit expensive and probably could be replaced with any rosewater spray if you can't afford the Jurlique one. I use the moisturizing cream in the morning. Although the cream is thick, it sinks into the skin well and I find it works well as a primer to help my foundation glide on smoothly (when I wear foundation). However, since I have been using Jurlique products, for the first time in my life I find that I rarely feel the need to wear foundation. And best of all, these products are natural and made with biodynamically farmed ingredients. You can read more about their biodynamic farm in the Adelaide Hills in Australia on the company's website. Also, if you buy a clarisonic from them, Jurlique gives you a free skincare set so that you can try out some of their products with it. They have a few different ones to choose from based on your skin type.

My next post will be on the Jurlique Herbal Recovery Collection. Let me know if you have tried any Jurliqe products and what you thought.
